Description
Simple, Classic Mittens
A Knitting Pattern by Liz Chandler @PurlsAndPixels
Learn to make your own mittens for everyone with this simple mitten knitting pattern. These basic, but classic knit mittens are a perfect winter staple. Make them in solid colors or mix it up with variegated yarn for a vibrant look. This easy to follow knitting pattern walks you through how to make these mittens, with row by row written steps. Comes with instructions for adult extra large, adult medium/large, adult small, child, toddler, baby, newborn, newborn thumb-less, and holiday ornament sizes.
How these Basic Knit Mittens are Made
These mittens are made one at a time, and worked from the bottom up.
This pattern can be knit in the round in two different ways. Instructions are included for double point needles and the magic loop. Pick your favorite method to knit in the round, then follow the instructions that match your chosen needles.
Materials
You will make these gloves with Caron Simply Soft Yarn, Double Point Needles, and/or circular needles (optional).
You can substitute almost any worsted weight yarn in this pattern successfully; just check your gauge before you start. I’ve found that Malabrigo Rios, a merino wool yarn, makes an excellent substitute yarn for this pattern.
Skills
This is an intermediate knitting skill level pattern that requires a general understanding of knitting in the round, knit stitches, purl stitches, switching needle sizes, increases, and decreases.
