Crochet Hermit Crab Hat
A Pattern by Liz Chandler @PurlsAndPixels
Craft your own hermit crab hats in all sizes using this easy to follow crochet pattern. This is a thick earflap hat with amigurumi style animal eyes and crab claws attached. It also has long braided tassels. This crab hat pattern also works well as a lobster hat. Read more about these hats in my blog post.
How a Hermit Crab Hat is Made
You will make this animal hat with Caron Simply Soft Yarn or similar substitute. The pattern will show you how to make the hat body and the individual pieces for the eyes and claws then sew them all together.
This is an intermediate crochet skill level pattern that requires a general understanding of crochet in the round, increases, and decreases. You will also need a basic knowledge of sewing or embroidery to put the hat pieces together.

Since the red yarn can bleed into the white eyes when wet, it’s best to surface wash this hat or hand-wash while keeping the eyes dry. Lay flat to dry.
