Craft your own hermit crab hats in all sizes using this easy to follow crochet pattern. This crochet hermit crab hat pattern helps you make a thick earflap hat with amigurumi style animal eyes and crab claws. It also has long braided tassels. This crab hat pattern also works well as a lobster hat.

How You’ll Make a Hermit Crab Hat

Materials

You will make this animal hat with Caron Simply Soft Yarn or similar substitute. The pattern will show you how to make the hat body and the individual pieces for the eyes and claws then sew them all together.

Skills

This is an intermediate crochet skill level pattern that requires a general understanding of crochet in the round, increases, and decreases. You will also need a basic knowledge of sewing or embroidery to put the hat pieces together.

Size Notes

– Adult size fits most men, women, and older teens (21’’ – 24’’ head circumferences)
– Child size fits most children ages 2 to 14 (19’’ – 21’’ head circumferences)
– Toddler size fits most babies ages 3 months to 2 years (16’’ – 19’’ head circumferences)
– Baby size fits most babies ages 0 – 3 months (13” – 16’’ head circumferences)

Care

Since the red yarn can bleed into the white eyes when wet, it’s best to surface wash this hat or hand-wash while keeping the eyes dry. Lay flat to dry.
