Twisty Cable Headbands
A Pattern by Liz Chandler @PurlsAndPixels
This simple knitting pattern teaches you how to make twisty cable headband hats in all sizes. The finished headbands are quite stretchy, so they hug the head very comfortably. This PDF knitting pattern walks you through making a headband with clear, row by row instructions for adult, child, and toddler/baby sizes.
How these Twisty Cable Headbands are Made
These hats are worked in the round, from the bottom up.
You can substitute almost any worsted weight yarn in this pattern successfully; just check your gauge before you start. I’ve found that Malabrigo Rios, a merino wool yarn, makes an excellent substitute yarn for this pattern.
This is a beginner to intermediate knitting skill level pattern that requires a general understanding of knitting in the round, knits, purls, and decreases. This pattern also introduces very simple cable knitting, as well. While most cable knitting patterns come with a chart, this pattern does not. I find that for simple cables charts simply confuse matters. Following the written instructions will produce an adorable twisty cable knit pattern.
– Adult size fits men, women, and older teens or 21’’ – 26’’ head circumference
– Child size fits children 2 – 14 years of age or 19’’ – 21’’ head circumference
– Toddler/Baby size fits children 0 – 2 years or 13’’ – 19’’ head circumference

If you use the materials suggested in this pattern, your final product will be machine washable. To keep your twisty cable headband looking its best, hand wash or machine wash separately on delicate cycle in cold water. You may tumble dry on low heat, but laying flat to dry is recommended.
