How Easy Chunky Knit Scarves are Made

This scarf is knit flat using simple garter stitch, which means you’ll knit every row: no purling required.

Materials

I designed this Easy Chunky Knit Scarf using  Hometown by Lion Brand Yarn  in the color “Key Largo Tweed.” But any super-bulky yarn will do. Malabrigo Rasta and Wool Ease Thick & Quick by Lion Brand are excellent substitutes, for example.

Skills

This is a beginner knitting skill level pattern that requires a general understanding of casting on, turning your work, the knit stitch, binding off, and weaving in loose ends. If you are not familiar with these skills, find quick, free lessons in my Learn to Knit Guide.

Care

If you use the materials called for in the pattern, your final product will be machine washable. To keep your scarf looking its best, hand wash or machine wash separately on delicate cycle in cold water. You may tumble dry on low heat or lay flat to dry.
